QRS-09 Tracking Streamer

QRS-09 Tracking Streamer

This tracking streamer is suited for model rocket kits flying on black powder motors as well as the apogee event on mid-power and even small high-power motors. With the entry into HPR recovery, it’s built a bit differently than the QRS-06 model. We use this as primary recovery to recover our grossly overbuilt Der Red Max, and some small dual-deploy models in our HPR fleet.

The QRS-09 streamer is the smallest streamer we have designed for use in high power rockets. With this in mind, it features not only the triple-thick shock cord tunnel, but also brass grommets so that it can be tied or quick-clipped to shock cord loops on the big birds. Like the rest of our tracking streamers, it is made from a single piece of durable, yet lightweight, ripstop Nylon. All hems are double-rolled; there are no exposed edges of fabric to fray.

The QRS-09 tracking streamer packs very small, but to ensure a nominal deployment, we recommend packing into a tube no smaller than 24mm (BT50) without a pilot.

QRS-09 can be used as an apogee event on payloads recovering on a BLS-18, BLS-24, BLS-30 or BLS-36.  If using as an apogee event in a dual-deploy rocket (secondary recovery), we recommend a shock cord of at least 30′, with the streamer mounted 10′ from end. This will help ensure the main is deployed into clear air.
